Conférence de Larry MITNICK, chairman of the Dpt of Architectural Studies, College of Arts, Philadelphy, professeur invité au DA de l'EPFL.
During a period of transition, unknown waters must be navigated in order to reveal possibility. Rather than seek closure and certainty one must learn to exist at a level of instability. An ever revealing, ramificating process is the primary means of authenticity. The legitimacy of knowledge comes from the process rather than the discourse. As Rilke has summed up, one must realise « Poetry as experience ». An architecture on the status of marginality is an architecture at the horizon, where light enters cracks between sunrise and Sunset. Here at the margin, in the cracks, we leave our messsages to our unseen being.
